CYRIL MAUDE SEASON.
"GRUMPY." From the realm of old ago the drania. thists have drawn the character of Grumpy. It is impossible that Horace Hodges and T. Wigney Percival, when they designed tho character, could havo foreseen the marvellous make up, the indescribable -attention to detail, ' the whims, humours and expressions, which Mr Cyril Maude has woven into it. Only a master of stagecraft, an actor great in imagination and wealthy in the observation and appreciation of the characteristics of old age, could have moulded and developed the dramatic embryo of Andrew Bullivant into tho outstanding characterisation of Grumpy. The coming of so fine an artist as Mr Cyril Maude must bo looked upon as an occasion of distinction, and already a keen interest is being evinced in his appearance. The company supporting Mr Maude includes several English artists of first rank. The season, which is for one night only, will commence at the Opera House on Thursday next. The box plans will be opened at the Bristol on Monday morning next.
