THE ITALIAN FRONT.
A cable to-day gives us a hint as to a possible enemy attack on a large scale on the Italian front. This message records the fact that there is continued concentration of Austro-Gcrmaus, and that artillery is being; massed behind the Breuta. and Piave rivers. Germany lias repeatedly threatened that once she had put Bussia out of the fight she would turn her attention to .Italy, and endeavour to punish her for her alleged treachery to the ('(Mitral Powers. Consequently, as Russia, no longer counts in the actual fighting we may expect a tremendous enemy attack against, the. Italians. But there is different stud' behind the Italian lines to that over in Bussia. British, French and American troops are in thousands helping; the Italians, and the whole of the resources or , the Allies are at tho disposal of Italy. The Allies will, therefore, await the Hun attacks with feelings of quiet confidence. In the meantime the rttilians are exerting , pressure on the enemy and at one poinj; they have compelled the Austro-Gennan forces to retire to the left bank of the Piave river.
