[From Our Own Correspondent.]
Wo have had ideal weather here during the last few days, ami shearing oporal ions which ha \\< been delayed considerably through the- recent wot weather are now drawing to a close. Castlepoint station started shearing last week with only two seharers instead of the- usual eight. They have been helped along, however, by a "scratch team of shearers composed of local residents and others who could not continue shearing owing to tho wet weather.
A large seal came ashore on the bench facing Whakataki last Monday. It measured over ten feet in length. Castlepoint township presents a pleasing sight at this time of the year. Tho lupins which were planted by the Government round the light-keeper's cottage to hold the sand together are nosy in full bloom, and their golden blossoms and green leaves, and the red-roofed houses with their background of intense green gra.ss and patches of yellow flowers, harmoni.se beautifully. '
Mr Stuekcy, the school inspector, paid a visit of inspection to the local school last week.
