SACRIFICE OF FAVOURITES.

The Northcliffe Press Gang was chiefly responsible for placing in power a number of members of the present War Cabinet of England. Nearly every member of the War Cabinet, a large section of the chief officials in the War Office and in tho Admiralty, as well as the majority of the members of the Coalition Cabinet, were supported so strongly by the "Gang" that their appointments followed as a matter of course. Now we havo the "Gang , ' condemning many of these appointments, but for what reason? Simply because they have.made such, a bungle of matters. Tho Northcliffo Press Gang is never consistent, so when they find public opinion condemning their incompetent favourites they immediately turn a somersault and hound down their own so that they may bo able to claim that incompetents were condemned by them. Wo have the old, old story over again in the condemnation by the "Weekly Dispatch" of the heads of tho War Office 'and Admiralty ac referred to in the cables to-day. Tho "Weekly Dis-patch'^—-one of the Northcliffe Press Gang—noticing the strong wave of public indignation brought about by the telling criticism of the Governmentand the war leaders by a number of newspapers in.. England not associated with the Northcliffo Press, has turned a complete- somersault and now condemns tlic "pets' , of the michicvous Irish-American, Northcliffe, who, were not Mh power for harm great, by reason of hiw immense wealth and control of a number of English newspapers, would bo one of the greatest political jokes the wAor hast produced.
