On Saturday night Mr D. Gillies, •who has resigned his position as manager of the Masterton Abattoirs, in order to cnago in farming on the East Coast, was entertained by the master butchers, their employees, and the abattoirs staff. The Mayor, who presided, made eluogistic reference to Mr Gillies' many qualities and presented the guest, on boialf* of those present, -with a casp of Loowe pipes and a gold-mounted cigarTiolder. Other speakers who supplemented the Mayor's remarks were Messrs T>. Ogilvy* P. Cotter, Hilton and B. Rayner. The .recipient suitably replied. •
