BLOCKADE OF GREECE.

The Allies have given the screw another turn as far as Greece '■ is concerned, and have placed an embargo on all Greek ships lying in Allied ports'. Greece is, therefore, in a. state of blockade.. We hope that the Allies will be firmer in their attitude in regard to Greek shipping than they were on a former occasion. It will be remembered that, many months ago, the Allies, with one hand, placed an embargo on Greek ships, and with tho other removed it. The day for such vacillation has long passed. It is- not clear yet whether Greece has not derived a certain amount of satisfaction out of the surrender of war material demanded by the Allies. Greece does not ap-i. pear to have given up all that was asked of her —what she did give up was conditionally. In the open rupture which occurred, tho French suffered nearly double' the casualties that tho Greeks did—that is, according to a Greek statement. Tho Allies aro demanding reparation from the Greeks commensurate with the gravity of this

outrage. What will be the outcome of the Allies' latest move it is hard to say. If firmness is adopted by tho Allies, then Greece must do just as she is asked; if a weak, stand is taken, then King Constantine will continue to make the Allies the laughing stock of the neutral world.
