(Special from tho N.Z. Official War Correspondent.) LONDON, Wednesday. With varying success the Now Zealanders continue raiding many trenches in the vicinity of Armontieres. The German-counter-raids have caused several casualties, mainly during tho enemy boiubtu'i'.uont. At ono machiJi'c gun the crow was putout of action aud buried with the gun, but the gun was dug out and brought iwj'P action again.

A iecent attempted raid by the Maoris was unsuccessful. They cleverly outwitted an enemy ruse to entrap them and returned without any casualties. The Germans concerned were caught iv tho open by our guns and rille lire, thrown into confusion, and suffered loss.

A party from tho Riile Brigade successfully raided a German front trench, inflicting casualties. Our bombardment wrecked their trenches. Their dead were badly shattered. Our casualties were plight.

An Otago regiment was less lucky, being caught by the enemy iire in NoMan 's-Land, but by splendid bravery tho officers and men made amends. Captain Jolly, who was wounded, refused to go on a stretcher while his men needed atteution. With great gallantry he carried on and was subsequently killed. The body was located at dawn near our parapet, and brought iv under cover of darkness.

Next night a private under suspended sentence of live years' penal servitude, behaved with great heroism. He was seen boldly standing up under heavy h're, repeatedly lifting wounded men over the parapet. His sentence was remitted.
