LONDON, Wednesday

Mr Asquith has appointed, a committee to consider the after war commercial and industrial policy with special reference to the Economic Conference's' recommendations. The committee will make inquiries as follows: —(1) What industries are essential for the future safety of the nation, and what steps are necessary to establish them; (2) What steps' are necessary to recover the home and foreign trade lost by the war, and to secure new markets; (3) To what extent and by what means the Empire's resources can be developed; (4) To what extent and by what means the Empire's sources of supply can be prevented from falling into foreign control.
