Dr Battisti, the Deputy for Trentino in the Austrian Parliament, was seriously wounded fighting as an Italian officer. He committed suicide rather than fall into Austrian hands. The Austrians held a mock treason trial over the body, and hanged
There is furious indignation in Italy, and the demand for reprisals is general throughout the country. (It was previously reported that Dr Battisti had been capftrred and executed by tho Austrians.)
