RETUBNED SOLDIERS ON THE
TAHITI.

The troopship Tahiti arrived at Port Chalmers at 5 p.m. yesterday. She left Suez on November 2nd, and had a fine run across. A large number of the men improved wonderfully during the voj r - age.
Private Harrison, of tho Canterbury Infantry, died of pulmonary trouble, and was buried in the Red Sea.
One hundred and eighty-five officers, men and nurses are on board, under tho charge of Dr. Beck, D.5.0., with Captain Pitt as adjutant and Dr. Faris senior medical officer. As a result of the medical examination, six men are to be sent to Dunediii Hospital, three to Auckland Hospital, one to Ash burton, two to Wellington, one to Gisborne, one to Wanganui, one to Napier, and one to Hamilton. The majority of the invalids are convalescent from enteric, rheumatism and dysentery, but there are several pulmonary cases, and a imbiber reeoveeingVfroiu wounds. One man has lost a ]c<j: just below the knee. The men were entertained at. luncheon in Port Chalmers by the local Women's , Patriotic Committee to-day, and afterwards were given a civic reception. The ?.I;uingamii left Port Chalmers at 2.50 p.m., with the northern contingents. Only about twenty-three Otago and Southland men were on board the Tahiti. Four of the nurses on the ill-fated Marquette came across in the vessel — Bisters Blaekie, McLeod, Wilson and Looney.
