PINE HOLIDAY PROGRAMMES

Hundreds have been unable to gain admission to the popular T.P. Electric Theatre nightly, the business done being enormous, a result of line selections of holiday features. In to-night's programme there is "The Call of the North, , ' being a picturisation of Edward Stewart White's graphic novel, "Conjurer's House." The fllni is by the famous Lasky players, and is the first Laeky production shown in Masterton. Laaky is the big man in the moving picture world, and all his artists arc men at the top of the histrionic tree. His productions cost big money, and that perhaps is the reason why New Zealand audiences are not better acquainted with his picture efforts. '' The Call of the North" is certaiuly one of the finest things in drama we have seen screened for a long time. It ruus tho whole of the second half of the programme, and those who like strong drama should not miss it. Another special which proved a decided success was "Her Shattered Idol," an episode of love and romance, in which many thrills and laughs kept the audience well amused. Miss Kathlyn Williams pleased her audience in no small manner in Selig's latest animal picture, "His Jungle Sweetheart.'' Interest was well sustained in 'The Islo of Ischia," "Gaiimont 's European Graphic,'' which gives a liberal sprinkling of many things patriotic, and "The Melbourne Cup," which portrays the greatest horse race south of the line. One views and follows the horses throughout the race. "Cartoons in a Laundry" is a merry- j maker and a novelty of the highest order, sending one home in the best of spirits after a capital evening's amusement. To-night will see the final presentation of this series\ To-morrow's big holiday special will be "The "Trumpet Call," a 5000 ft All-Britsh masterpiece.
