BARNARDO'S HOMES.

Iv a letter to Mrs H. B. Dyer, acknowledging the receipt of tho £115 raised in the recent Barnardo collection in Masterton, Mr H. W. Lee (organising secretary in New Zealand), expresses the indebtedness of the Homes to tho local collectors arid contributors. "Every collector," he writes, "must have worked hard to achieve such a splendid result, which is double the amount sent from Masterton last year. Your remark that our friends were so well received that collecting was a

pleasure to all who took part is a tribute to tho popularity of our Homes amongst New Zealanders, and shows that they recognise our claim as essentially a patriotic one. It will interest those who gave so readily and generously to learn what the Homes are able to acomplish with their monies. With £.112 we can suport seven healthy boys and girls for twelve months, and the balance oi" £3 will maintain 75 girls iv one oi: our cottage homes for v day; or wo can maintain aud train five little "handymen" at our naval school for a year for £100, aud with the £15 left over rescue a poor child from misery and keep it in comfort for niue months. From these few particulars our subscribers will see that their money will be put to good übo." The writer also acknowledges tho valued assistance given by the local press.
