Tho following message, dated Decern, ber :20th, has now been released: — Mr Ashmead Bartlctt, writing to the Sunday Times ou the Dardanelles, says: "General Muiiro, iv his report, said he was strongly iv favour of a withdrawal. A tremendous responsibility rests upon those keeping our force there in wintry conditions. Enormous losses from sickness are inevitable. It is absolutely certain that tho troops at Gallipoli must face sufferings and hardships unparalleled since the Crimean war. Are the threatened losses worth while > What are the advantages if, as 1 think, the authorities are agreed that it is impossible to advance from our present positions:''''
