''Aiming. Firing, .Fire Discipline Training, etv'-' by Staff >Sgt.-Major Instructor F. .K. Hart, School of .Musketry, Randwiek; price Is tid, postage .Id. — This hook was written with the approval of the Commandant, School of ketry, Rand wick, who contrilm'tes a, preface expressing a. high opinion of the Avork. It is strictly in accordance with the principles laid doAvn in the official Musketry Regulations, and is so complete as to render study of the oflicial text-book unnecessary so far as the sub-

jects dealt with are concerned. Its strong points are that it sets out a definite sequence of instruction and illustrates every position of man and rifle throughout the course. The staff of the School of Musketry were photographed in over 50 attitudes, many of which have never been illustrated in any other textbook, and it is safe to saythat the plates represent the teaching so fully and accurately as to make the text, unnecessary except for details Avhich cannot be shown in a, photograph. The application of musketry training to active service conditions is dismissed. in the official text-book in a few line.-, but at Randwick they make a. special feature of tire discipline training and rapid lire control. Sergeant-Major Hart, who holds the rapid firing record of over forty shots in one minute, discusses this part of the subject- in an invaluable twenty pages of his book.

"The Infantry Pocket Book, 7 ' compiled by Lieut, "j... Stuparf, fourth edition, revised and greatly enlarged, price Is iU\, postage Id.—This is practically a, new hook, as it contains more than twice as much matter as any previous edition. No higher praise couid be bestowed on it, than the quote the words of Brigadier Holmes, who writes in a, prot'aelory note: "I consider it most complete, comprising, as it in a concise form, just "the information a, young oflicor or non-commissioned officer needs to have continually at hand for ready reference. 1 have no hesitation in recommending the volume to all who aspire to preferment in the infantry battalions of the Commonwealth Military Forces. "

The book is divided into roar sections—regulations, Geld training, musketry, and camp duties. The last section in particular has been greatly extended, and is now a. complete guide to camp duties. Each ot* the other sections* has also been revised and considerably enlarged. Nor, tho least important, feature of the book is tho waterproof cloth cover of khaki.

I "The New Company Drill SinipJij lie,!,'' by Lieut. "If. Stupart, third edi- | i ion. pri.-e Is 0,1 (postage Id). — The i lirst edition of this useful manual appeared only two months ago, and the | demand has been so great that a third | has already been called for. Prom every corner of tho Commonwealth and Now Zealand the book has boon acclaimed for the excellence of its diagrams and its useful notes on the official detail of all drill movements. It deprives the study of ''Infantry Training, :i!)M, ; ' of all terrors for'both officers and men. "Musketry Small Book," for recording results obtained in musketry train, ing, second edition.—Price 3d.
