The fighting on the Gallipoli Peninsula is indecisive, but the Allies have gained a number of minor successes, French 75cm. guns inflicting enormous losses. „.,._■»«■ ■ A severe struggle continues between the towns of Gallipoli and Maidos ' The Turks, who have been reinforced, are resisting desperately. ' The fortified heights of Achi Baba resemble Spionkop for their impregnability. ~,_„_.___ The Turkish Army is penned here, surrounded by the British on the west, the French on the south, and the Australasians on the east and north. The Allies are continually gaining ground, and forcing the Turks back. The main position of the Allies is continually being reinforced by troopships from Egypt and France, including French, British, Algerians, Sikhs, Gurkhas, and Senegalese. The Kilid Bahr and Ungerdere are th c only European forts reply-
ing. The Erenkeui and other forts, "With movable howitzer batteries, shielded by thick pine woods on the Asiatic shore, are still troublesome.
