GOLF.

MASTERTON CLUB.

There was a fair attendance last night at tho annual genral meeting of the Masterton Golf Club. Mr H. G. Williams (president) occupied the chair. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted.

Tho balance-sheet showed that the club was in a sound financial position. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Mr .and Mrs H. G. Williams for the enthusiastic interest they take in the club's welfare, and for kindly providing afternoon tea and refreshments at the opening and closing of the season; and to Mr F. F. Reid for his services while acting as secretary. ,

The election of officers resulted ns follows:—President, Mr H. G. Williams; vice-presidents, Messrs 11. 11. Bcetham and W. M. Kebbell; club captain, Mr W.■ H. Robiesou; general committee, Messrs A. B. Lawrence, D. Caselberg,. V. E. Donald, J. Milne, J. A. Sellar, T. .Jordan aud C. Bennett; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr 10. P. Fenton; hon. auditor, Mr H.-.T. Francis; ladies' captain. Mrs Guy Williams; ladies' committee, Mrs N. Bcetham, Misses M. 11. Payton and J. Robiesou: ladies' hon.. secretary, Miss E. Robiesou.

The arrangements for afternoon teas were left in the hands of the general committee.

The opening of tho season was fixed for Saturday, April 10th. A suggestion was made to the match committee that the club championships be commenced earlier this season than last.

A recommendation was made that gas be laid on to the club house. Mr. H. G. Williams generously donated the sum of £10 towards any oxpenses incurred in that direction. On Saturday and Monday next, commencing at 9 a.m. on each day, competitions will be held on-the''club's links (post entries). The ladies' have kindly promised to provide afternoon tea on both days. Tho meetings closed with a vote of thanks to the chair and to Mr M. Foley for the use of tho room.

At the conclusion of the meeting the general committee met and appointed the following sub-committees, viz.:— Match committee, Messrs A. B. Lawrence, J. Sellar and J. Milne.; ground committee, Messrs W. M. Kebbell and A. B. Lawrence.
