A GERMAN OFFICER'S DEATH.
SYDNEY, Thursday
At the inquest on a German named Katzer, the evidence showed that he H as a first lieutenant in the German army reserve. He and another German officer named Yon Speeht, by breaking parole, escaped from the German concentration camp at Liverpool. Katzer obtained a pass aboard the Sonoma from a friend. The steamer was thoroughly searched in anticipation of the escapee's attempt to get aboard, but nothing was discovered until Katzer \s dying groans were heard. There was no'evidence to show how he came to be hidden ou the boat, of which the cover was laced down.
A verdict was returned that death was due to stowing in an enclosed lifeboat.
