The funeral of the late Mrs C. Winchester took place yesterday afternoon, the cortege being a' large and representative one. The service at the graveside w conducted by the Rev. T. IT.illidsiv.
The "Vt'noral'lo Archdeacon Cassell, Anglican minister of St. Mary's, II u•weru, died yesterday afternoon, aged 47. Tho deeased, early in January, suffered from ii serious nervous breakdown, from which he never rallied. Captain Gardiner, who has been appointed camp paymaster at Trentham, served originally in the Ist (King's) Dragoon Guards" The other soldiers in camp who formerly belonged to the same regiment are Sergeant-Major Luckham,' Sergeant-Ma;jor Kebble, Private Tavlor. and Captain Eastwood.
Writiuir to the Cartertou News from Zeituu. near Cairo, on Boxing Day, Major Hart, of Carterton, stated that Sergeant Roy Messenger, of Masterton. had"been sent to the hospital, suffering from an internal complaint. This had been put right, but it was expected that he would be in the hospital for a fortnight.

The death of Mr Maurice Lust took place at Kauwhata. T'almerston, recently. He leaves three sous and two daughters to mourn their loss. Deceased was well known in the Wairarapa, having been in business for some years in Featherston. The eldest son. Mr C. Lust, is in Hastings, while the other two, Messrs .Tames and Alexander, re*i'k' in Wellington.
