A SERIOUS CHARGE.

James Solo, nightwatchman for tho Sash and Door Factory Company, was to-day committed for trial on a charge of allegedly firing a revolver at Thomas Blinkhorn, a drover. From tho evidence it appeared that Blinkhorn and three other drovers, who had been drinking, but wero not drunk, passed Solo about 6 p.m. on January 2Sth. Blinkhoru said lie called Solo an old sausage, and asked how ho was getting on, whereupon the accused fired a revolver at him. The accused's story was that. Blinkhorn called him a German, embellished with offensivo ajective3, and threatened him with physical violence. In self-defence ho fired the revolver into the ground to frighten his assailant. Solo is said to be a Russian Finn, and an elderly, inoffensive man.
