EGMONT RACES.

The Egmont Racing Club's summer meeting commenced to-day in beautiful weather. There was a large attendance, which was a little below that of last year. The totalisator investments amounted to £19,027, an increaso of £1201 10s. Results:—

Ohawe Hack Hurdles.—Katua 1, Ascalon 2, Tirohanga 3. Also started—St. Gate, Styrax, Glen Nevis, Armature. Ngaupata. A good race, won by three-quarters of a length. Time, 2.49-i. Flying Handicap. —Astor 1, Wisebird 2, Sir Moseley 3. Also started— Rewi Poto, Bimeter, Beldame, Tree Lucerne, Ardent, Crawford, Denise Orme, Master Achilles. Won by a head. Time, 1.15.

Meremere Hack Flat.—Fortify 1, Martingale 2, Vladineau 3. Also started—Toa Tore, Avon Park, Zion, Kurapai, Rewa Eewa, Tyson, Lady Ami, Fidessa, Blacking, Durance, Tirana. Won by half a length. Time, 1.3. "Egmont Cup.—Byron 1, Square Deal 2, Courtmartial 3. Also started —Sea Pink, Marshal Mac Donald, Imarose, Chaminadc, Ladify. Byron turned for home in front, followed by Square Deal, Courtmartial and Imarose. This order was maintained to tho post, half a

length separating the placed horses. Time, 2.28 2-5. Ladies' Purse. —Harbour Light 1, Patronata 2, Ngapoto 3. Also started —Glen Tulloch, Idol, Nita, Silver Tim, Antwerp, Chief Officer, Phorinun. Won by a short head. Time, 1.54. Egmont Stakes. —Empefador 1, Flying Start 2, Gladiole 3. Also started— Ineuru, Postillion, Bisogne. Won decisively by a length. Time, 1.15 2-5. Waipapa Hack Flat.—Quo Vadis :. Patronymic 2, Combustion 3. Abo started—Euroco, Rosalys, Mahlstic, Nuform, Daft, Captain Miro, Sylvan Dale, Cordon. Won by a length. Time, 1.30. Whareroa Welter. —Te Hou Hou 1, Calais 2, Invader 3. Also started— Kaniki, First Consul, Bold Stroke, Sunbird, Stepney. Won by a head. Time. 1.30 1-5.
