FREEZING WORKS ON FIRE.

(By Telegraph—Press Association.)

CHRISTCHURCH, Wednesday

A fire broke out between 2 and 3 o'clock this morning, in the main building of the Islington Freezing Works, and at one time looked like spreading into a general conflagration of the principal'block of buildings. The origin of the lire is not known, but it was discovered by one of the night stokers in the engine-room. He immediately gave the alarm, and the company's fire brigade was on the spot and worked with commendable

promptitude. The absence of wind favoured their efforts, aud after some time the lire was got under.
