(By Telegraph—Press ABtociation.) OAMARU, Wednesday.

To-day a deputation from the Oamaru Merchants' Association conferred with the A. aud P. Association regarding the wheat, shortage problem. Mr W. H. Rose, for the merchants, advocated urging wheat growers to plant greater areas, not only for the benefit of the country, but as an act of patriotism. He quoted statistics, showing that North Otago had fallen off greatly in recent years in wheat production. The A. and-P. Society unanimously decided to immediately circularise all wheat growers in the district, urging them to plant much more wheat next

season
