The aviator Pegoud. while reconnoitring at Artois, discovered an important depot of .German explosives. He went to the French lines, where he secured explosives and bombs and returned to the depot.

He dropped nine bombs, every one of which hit. The successive explosions were so terrific that Pegoud h;.d the greatest difficulty in keeping his balance, but he escaped uninjured.
