The summer meeting of the Ta':cpuna Jockey Club opened" to-day iv wet weather. Haiti foil continuously from 11 o'clock, and after the third race the committee and the stipendiary stewards met to consider whether the programme should be proceeded with. It was eventually decided to postpone the running of the remaining events till tomorrow. Despite the unfavourable couditions there was a fairly good attendance of the public, and the sum of £SG76- 10s was put through tho totalisator for the threo events. Macmillau, the rider of Takanini in tho Maiden Plate, was called before the stewards to explain his handling of that horse. After hearing his explanation, the stewards administered a caution.
