RAINFALL.
Solway. —Mr J. C. Boddington re-t ports that rain fell on 20 days in May* The maximum fall in 24 hours was 97 points, registered on 17th, and 93 points on 11th; minimum, 1 point each, on Bth, 14th and 25th. Total for tha month, 6.43 inches, as compared witli 8.52 inches in May, 1913, and 9.62 in-: ches in May, 1907, the average for May during the past 10 years being 4.82 in-: ches. The total fall for the past fiver months has been 19.06 inches, as com-; pared with 19.37 inches for the responding period in 1913. Upper Opaki.—Mr H. J. Christen.-, sen, of Mount Bruce, reports on the' rainfall at Upper Opaki during the month of May as folows:—Rain fell on 19 days. The heaviest fall in 24 hours was 98 points on the 16th. Tha total for the .month of May was 7.41 inches. The rainfall for the ponding month last year was 11.43 inches.
