AND THE PROFITS GO TOWARDS THE PIPE BAND. ■MINE CANDIDATES HAVE ENTERED for the Queen of the Carnival Election. Of these only seven can be elected—one as Queen and six au Ladies-in-waiting. In the actual election, however, you can only vote ~ ior one candidate, viz., for tho lady you choose as Queen. All nine candidates are more or less known to the public. In the "Daily Times contest you must vote for seven of the candidates in your order of proced•nce. The result will prove how far your judgment is in accord with 41m verdict of the majority. The prize will be awarded to the competitor k whose voting list most nearly coincides with the order in which the can--9 didates are placed. In the event of a tie the prize will go to the competitor whose winning list was sent in first. Remember, the prize for the person sonding in the nearest correct Hat will be — £5 Cash Prize £5 What You Have to Do. —Go carefully over the list of candidates; •elect the one you think should be Queen and write the figure 1 opposite her name. Then pick out the candidate you would have as Queen if your jflrst choice failed, and after her name write the figure 2. Proceed in this mrder of preference from Ito 7. Cut out the list, enclose it in envelope, together with a penny (coin or stamp), address it "Preferential Voting Contest," and send it direct to the "Daily Times" Office. Envelopes can bo placed in the "Daily Times" letter-box (in front of building), during the hours that the office is not open; or may be forwarded by post. SPECIAL NOTE.— Those sending lists by post, stamps, not coin, must • b» sent. v - Conditions. —Every list may be made out on the form published in •ach day's '' Daily Times.'' The date printed on the form, which will be altered from day to day, will be regarded as the date of entry, and must be followed by a record of the exact time at which the list was completed by the competitor. Competitors may revise their judgment as often as they wish. Country competitors may save their coupons, enclosing one penny ■tamp for each coupon (do not stick them). Coins must not be posted unless registered. By saving up the coupons and posting several in one envelope a large amount would be saved in postage. It is a condition of entry that the decision of the Editor, which will be endorsed by official representatives of the Pipe Band, shall be accepted as final.
