MEETING OF FACTORY MANAGERS.
SALARIES AND APPLICATIONS.
The dairy factory managers,of the Wairarapa met on Saturday, at Carterton, to discuss tho situation between themselves, and the various directorates in Wairarapa and elsewhere in tho North Island (says the Carterton News). The meeting had as its object the strengthening of the hands of tho Managers' Association. The association has at different times circularised all dairy companies to the effect that the managers wish the said companies to state the salary they are prepared to give when calling applications for managers, instead of the pernicious practice that some companies arc following at the present time of asking managers to state salary It was unanimously decided by those present to send two delegates to represent Wairarapa managers at tho Palmerston North Dairy conference to confer with the National Dairy Association, which body, they understand, will represent the dairy companies. If no reasonable settlement can be effected, the managers will have no option but to form a union such as obtains at present in Otago and Southland. A small number of co-operative companies have replied to tho circulars issued by the Managers' Association, and all of them approve of the conditions asked for.
