SIR GEORGE REID'S HOPES.
Press Association —Electric Teleeraph—Copyright. (Eeeeived Thursday, at 8.10 a.m.). LONDON, Wednesday. The Sphinx Club banquetted Sir George Reid, Commonwealth High Commissioner. Sir George said Australia had never played a. larger part in -the development of the Empire than during the past twenty or thirty years. He hoped all races in the Empire would develop the highest qualities and every part become qualified to take a share in Imperial affairs, but any such attempt at present would lead to chaos.
