CLAIM FOR COMPENSATION

IMPORTANT JUDGMENT,

Press Association—F.l-rtric Teleeraph—Copyright. (Received Wednesday, at 9.50 a.m.). SYDNEY, Wednesday. The High Court on appeal delivered a judgment of great importance to shipping companies. A seaman sought compensation from the Union Company for injuries received aboard the steamer Moana two hundred miles at sea on a return voyago from San Francisco to Sydney. The claim -was based on the fact that the voyage was from Sydney to Sydney, and therefore the ship was under the Commonwealth law during the whole voyage. The Union Company held that it was not liable to pay compensation until the steamer had readier Commonwealth waters. The High Court upheld the Company's contention.
