PLOUGHMAN'S DEATH.
VERDICT OF MURDER. [By Telegraph—Press Association.] TIMARU, Monday. At the- inquest held to-day at Geraldine into the death of Adam Stevenson, ploughman, for which a workmate named Harry Cripps is in custody, medical evidence showed that the wounds in the liead were caused by a blunt cutting instrument. Theso wounds were the cause of death, and could have been inflicted with the gorso knife found in the gully near the place where the body wa s found. The body had been carted in a dray to the place where it was discovered in the bush. A neighbour, who called on Cripps after dark on the evening of Stevenson's disappearance, stated that Cripps behaved strangely, and an inference hintod at was that the body was then in the dray. A quantity of blood, hidden by having chaff strewn over it, was found just near the gully. The Coroner returned an open verdict of murder against so mo person unknown .
