HOCKEY.
■ Thursday will see the commencement of the competitions under the control of the Wairarapa Hockey Association. The senior championship will be contested by six teams, and the prospects are decidedly in favour of an exciting competition. The team that wins the honours this season will undoubtedly deserve them, as there are at least four teams, any one of whicli is likely to come out on top. The hockey public will witness some keon struggles during the season. The matches set down for decision on Thursday are:—Post and Telegraph v. St. Matthew's, at Lansdowne; Daleficld v. Excelsior, at Carterton; Carterton v. Featherston, at Featherstou. These games will bo watched with interest, as they will probably give some indication of the strength of the various teams. The junior fixtures will bo drawn at a meeting of the management committee to-night, owhig to Daleficld having decided to enter a junior team. The following will represent P. aul T. in their match with St. Matthew's on Thursday: —Gaol, Burrows; fullbacks, X. Williams and •E. Clarke; Lalvos, Aekerman, Hanley and Kr Morris; forwards, TNTaylor, Jackson, R. Will.'ams, Richards; reserve, Sharkay.
