MR FISHER'S MEETING.

All things considered the meeting addressed by the Hon. F. M. B. Fisher in the Town Hall last night must be considered a, triumph, and the few questions asked at, the conclusion would point, to the fact that the present administration meets with the approval of the general body of electors. Dospjte the fact, that the Minister was considerably heckled and that a certain irresponsible section of the audience booed and howled throughout, the large majority of those present were in sympathy with the speaker and the policy advocated by him. The irresponsible section referred to followed the Jead of about half a dozen raucous-voiced individuals who evidently came to the meeting to exercise their Jungs and howled continuously without rhyme or leason. As an instance of this it need only be mentioned that they yelled and booed, even when a vote of thanks to the chairman was moved. Mr Coradine, who deserves great praise for the manner in which he controlled the meeting, and whose politics.- as said himself, are well-known, gave the disturbers some sound advice, and appealed to their sense of fair-play. The Minister made, a characteristic, speech in which he defended the administration of the present Government, trenchantly criticised certain passages in Mr Wilford's- recent speech iv Masterton, and at the conclusion earned a vote of thanks and appreciation. He could not be expected to do more, ami he did this, iv spite of the fact that, a few rowdies had determined he should not ho allowed to speak at "all. We feel that Mr Fisher lias done good service to his party :a this district by tho excellent speech delivered last: night, and we hope to have the pleasure of hearing him again at no distant date.
