Volasco, the Federal commander, in an attempt to check Villa's march, left Torreon and. gave battle.

After a tierce engagement, in Avhich there were heavy losses, Velasco retreated, leaving villages afire, after a heavy artillery duel.

The hospitals are full of wounded. Torreon is still holding out.
