ARMY COUNCIL ASD RHSIGNA- *- TIONS.
(Received Thursday, at 9.20 a.m.) LONDON, Wednesday. A White Paper says that Avhen the Army Council learned that resignations of officers Avere imminent they ordered the suspension of the seniors. General Gough demanded a clear definition of the duty required. All were prepared, to assist the civil poAver, but not- in military operations against Ulster. They also enquired if Home Rule became law the maintenance ol* order might be construed into the enforcement of Home Rule. The Council replied that it was satisfied there Avas a misunderstanding. They did not intend to crush political opposition to Home Rule.
