CLEARING SALE AT ALPASS ESTATE.

Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report, having conducted a most successful clearing sale of the Alpass estate stock on Monday, 19th inst. The attendance was exceptionally large, Wairarapa being strongly represented, especially the southern portion, and the whole of the Forty-Mile Bush districts, including Pongaroa and Akitio, as well as the Mauawatu province. The stock was of good quality throughout, and every credit is due to Mr William Boustead, the manager of the property, for the excellent arrangements made. Tho sheep were well drafted as to age and sex, and in each instance any "tail" taken out, and buyers were especially complimentary in their remarks generally as to the manner in which the stock was placed before them. Business at auction was animated, and the prices can only be considered as highly satisfactory. Prices are as under: —590 2-th wethers His lid, 300 fat 2-th wethers with a sprinkling of 4-ths 19s Id, 730 2-th ewes IGs 10d, 70-1 4-th ewes 19s, 550 6-th ewes IGs 9d, 520 4-year old ewes IGs Gd, G53 woolly ewes lambs lis 7d, G6B woolly wether lambs lis 4d, cull 2-th wethers ",14s 9d, cull 2-th ewes 12s Sd, cull lambs Gs 9d; 21 aged Romney rams Jgns to IJgns, 12 two shear Southdown rams (Te Parae) 4gns, 20 forward sappy bullocks £9 17s, 34 3-yr old bullocks £8 13s, 31 2-yr steers £G, 43 cows and calves £7 10s, 21 cows and calves £6, 33 empty heifers £5 Is, 18 15-months steers £4 Is, 19 15-months heifers £3 10s, 3-year old Shorthorn bull Signs, 4-yr Hereford bull (Dagg) SOgns. Dairy cows £5 10s to £7 2s Gd. aged draught mare with foal £39, aged draught mare £21 15s, 3-year old filly £20, 3-year old colt £18, 2-year old filly £22, yearling filly by Federation £18. Implements, sundries and odd furniture made satisfactory prices.
