THEFTS AT NAPIER.

NAPIER, Tuesday. Six or nine months ago Napier was subjected to an epidemic of burglaries, and all efforts on the part of the police to discover the perpetrators proved futile. Quito unexpectedly, however, fresh light was thrown on tho mystery by the arrest of David Conway Burn, at Hastings. A quantity of missing valuables were found in his possession, and the prisoner admitted being concerned iv two of the burglaries. Subsequently a man named Carpenter was arrested at Auckland on a charge of being concerned in the theft.
