SPECIAL SOUTHDOWN RAM AND EWE FAIR.
WAIPOUA YARDS
Messrs W. ami G. Tunil)iill and Co., Ltd., report having held a most successful sale of Southdown ranis and ewes in their Waipoua (Mnsterton) salcyards on Thursday, loth January, when they offered on account of Mr Alee J. Cooper, 203 one,'two, three, and four-shear Southdown ewe*, 35 Southdown rani lambs, and 33 Southdown ewe lambs, also 40 one, two, and threeshear Lincoln and Eomney rams. There was a very good attendance of buyers from all parts of the district, and competition was exceptionally keen throughout (more especially for two and three-shear ranis), the whole yarding, with the exception of 33 4-shcar ewes and the Lincoln rams, was sold under the hammer at prices which must be considered highly satisfactory. The. following average prices were obtained:—79 1-shear S.D. rams, bred by James Johns, Belfast, Canterbury, averaged £5 17s fid; 12 one-shear S.D. rams, bred by William T?ayiior, averaged £0 4s; 12 one-shear S.D. rams, bred by G. P. Donnelly, Hawke's Bay, averaged £4 ]9s 9d; 12 2-shear S.D*. rains, bred by John Strang, averaged £5 10s Od; 30 2-shear S.D". rams, bred by John Strang, averaged £4 .18s Od; 31 3-;; hear S.D. rains, bred by John Strang, averaged £4 3s (id; 32 4-shear S.D. ranis, bred by John Strang and James Johns, averaged £•!; i>o ram lambs averaged £2 2s; 28 ewe Jambs averaged £l' 7s Gd; 13 1-shear S.D. ewes iiveragr-d £'! 14n; II 2-she.vr S.D. ewes averaged £2 17s 9d; 13 3-shear S.D. ewes averaged £2 17a 9d; 20 2shear TCoinney rams averaged £2 12s Gd.
