MEETING OF. THE MASTERTON BRANCH.

At the meeting of the Masterton Labour Party held last evening, the following objective and platform was adopted, with power to add any further planks that, in the opinion of the Party, should at any time be deemed necessary. Objective. . (1) To endeavour to create a deeper interest in all questions of a political nature, both local and general, whereby the industrial section of the community may obtain their fair share of direct representation on all public institutions. (2) To support all measures that will be of benefit to the majority of the people, and in the advancement of Masterton. Platform. Electoral reform:— (1) Proportional representation. (2) The initiative, referendum, and recall. (3) All questions submitted to a referendum to be decided on the bare majority vote. (4) The restoration of full political rights to all public employees. State Bank:— (5) The establishment of a State ] Bank with sole right of note issue. As the party have withdrawn from the United Labour Party, and by resolution have deckled to maintain a neutral attitude towards any of the existing political or labour organisations, the above objective and platform has been found necessary.
