The American barquentine Amranth, laden with coal, from Newcastle to San Francisco, was wrecked at Jarvis Island on August 30th.
The crew of fifteen persons are all safe.
They reached Apia and Pago Pago (Samoa) in two boats, having travelled a distance of fourteen hundred miles.
