GENERAL INDUSTRIAL UNREST.
PETTY STRIKES CONTINUE.
Press Association—Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Keeeived Wednesday, at 9 a.m.) LONDON, Tuesday. Although settlements of the more serious strikes have been effected, still there are many sporadic ones over trivial causes, especially in the •colliery districts, indicating general industrial unrest.
Pour thousand Clydachvale colliers struck over the company's policeman investigating a discrepancy ■'in a minors' pay ticket. The unionists demanded his dismissal, alleging that the policeman made an improver suggestion during his visit to the miner's house. The company's refusal led to the mine being laid idle. Mr Stanton, tho miners' agent, declared that these technical stoppages arc a sheer farce. The South Wales Federation had passed a resolution that all those employed in the mines should belong to the Federation, yet only a few districts in Wales were prepared to strike for the principle. Mr Stanton added that the question should be a national one.
