SYDNEY, Wednesday

The total number of people attacked by smallpox since the outbreak is 816.

Dr Cunipston, the Federal director of quarantine, is of opinion that there is no possible doubt.that the disease is smallpox. It is true that it is not virulent, but it is not possible at present to forecast whether the mild typo , will continue., Mr Glynn replied to the Lord Mayor that any check in business experienced in Sydney was due to the presence of smallpox, and not to tho Commonwealth imposing quarantine. The matter, however, was receiving consideration.
