CARTERTON STOCK SALE
Messrs W. and G. Turnbull and Co. Ltd. (late Jas. Macintosh and Co.), report having held their usual fortnightly stock sale in their Carterton sale yards on Friday, when they offered a yarding of sheep, cattle and pigs well above advertised numbers. There was a very good attendance of buyers from all parts of the district, consequently competition was very keen, and there was practically a total clearance. The following prices were realised: —Springing heifers £5, £5/10/-, £6/5/-, £7, £8, to £9/2/6; dairy cows, £4, £4/10/- to £6; empty cows, £3, £3/13/-, £3 /17/- to £4; yearling heifers, £2/10/-, £2/12/- to £2/16/-; 2-year heifers £3/16/- to £5; steer calves 28/- to 35/-; 2-year steers £4 16s; springing heifers (late calvers), £2/13/- to £3/6/-; cow and calf, £2/2/6; 25-months steers £3/1/-; old store cows, 35/-, yearling Holstein bulls, £2/13/-, £2/16/- to £3/10/-; bulls, £4, £4/10/- to £5/10/-. Pigs: Weaners, 13/-, 13/6, 15/3 to 16/3, porkers 18/----22/-, 22/6, 25/-, 29/6, 30/- to 33/9.
