DURING THE BOER WAR
(Received Thursday, at 9.10 a.m.) LONDON, Wednesday.
' The" newspapers are making prominent details of Captain Oates , bravery in the South African war.
When his patrol was surrounded, the Boer commander demanded its surrender, but Captain Oates replied: "We are here to fight." He was afterwards known as "No-surrender Oates."
