METHODIST SYNOD.

The sitting; of the Wellington District. Methodist Synod was concluded to-day. The report on the church property stated that three new churches had been erected and opened during the year, at a total cost of £4464, with seating accommodation for 790 people. The new buildings were at Hastings, Karori and Te lloro. The sum of £294.: is owing to the church building and loan fund by properties in the district. The foieign mission committee recommended that after separation from the Australasian General Conference next year, an endeavour be made to secure a portion of the South Sea Islands as a New Zealand foreign mission district, Maori work not to be included in the foreign mission field.
The Rev. .1. A. Hosking was elected as representative to the conference, and the Rev. J. Ward as a substitute.
Statistical reports for the district showed that eleven circuits had increased the church membership, Wellington South, Taranaki Street, Wellington, and Woodville being the principal ones with total increases of 191, Seven circuits recorded a slight decrease, totalling twenty-nine. Junior mpmbers had increased by fifty, and Sunday School scholars by KU, despite tho fact that there were less schools, while the cradle roll members increased by nearly 200.
It was decided to recommend the conference to re-appoint the Rev. T. G. Brooke organising secretary of home missions.
The synod will meet at Hastings next year, tho dato to be fixed.
