R. F. Sorenson, of Hastings, ia on a visit to Masteton.
Mr M. B. Tait, of Featherston, is at present seriously ill with influenza.
The death occurred at Danaerirke iast night of Mrs Oougdon, mother of Mr A. J Congdou, of iiasterton.
The Vicar, of St. Matthew's Uhurch, Rev. Herbert Watson, M.A., hopes to take the celebration on St. Andrew's Day, November 80th., at 7.30 a.m., and the service on Advent Suudav.
Mr E. A. King, who has occupied the position of headmaster of the Kaiwaiwai -school for several years, lias resigned his position and accepted an appointment to a school in Nortli Oantei bury.
Two presentations were made at the Masterton Post Oilice last- night. Mr S. Inder (Postmaster) on behalf of the staff, presented Mr R. E. Williams, on the occasion of his approaching marriage, with a handsome siiver teapot and hot water jug, the latter being from the Hockey Club, of which Mr Williams was a prominent member. Mr G. Boagey, who lias been appointed Havelock (Nelsoa), was also ed by Mr Inder on behalf of tluwith a solid silver butter dish and cake dish and also an enlarged photograph of the P. and T. Hockey team, the latter being from the members of the Club. Both presentations were suitably acknowledged.
We greatly regret having to.lose the services of Miss Cross, Superintendent ot the Kuripuni Sunday School, says the St. Matthew's Parish magazine. Miss Gross has been ordered to take a rest for a while. She has been most faithful and successful and lias won the confidence and respect of our people at Kuripnni. An informal gathering of frienis met on October lVftti at Mr Denbee's to say "goodbye" and presently a token of regard is to be forwarded to Miss Cross.
The Hon. F. M. B. Fisher arrived in Eketahuna this morning to turn, the first sod of the water-supply works which are being undertaken by the borough. He will be entertained at luncheon on arrival. He will receive deputation during the afternoon, says the Dominion, will attend a "social" in the evening tendered to Mr E. Page, Mayor of the Town, who has lately Deen -appointed a stipendiary ma<>istjJfcF> and he will return to Masterton same evening to hear other deputations there. He intends to reach Wellington by the first train to-morrow.
The marriage of Mr Eric Ernest Stuckey, of Wairarapa, to Miss Dorothy Bell, only daughter of Mr and Mrs C Langley Bell, of Nelson, took place at St. Barnabas's Church, Stoke, on Tuesday afternoon last. The briJo 'c dress was of embroidered chiffon over nierv, with a veil and orange blossoms, worn over houiton lace cap. She carried a beautiful shower bouquet, and wore a pendant of pearls and peridots, the gift of the bridegroom. Miss Stuckey, sister of the bridegroom, was her bridesmaid. Her dress was of cornflower blue flowered muslin over silk, with large black hat and cream boquet —the bridegroom's gift was a tourmaline brooch. Mrs Bell, mother of the bride, wore a grey silk crepeline trimmed with Oriental trimming, and a large black and grey hat to match. Mr Wheeler, of Taihape was the best man. The church was very prettily decorated, and the whole appearance was most charming. The Key. J. P. Kempthorne officiated.
