A local resident, who has just returned from Wellington, informed a Daily Times reporter this morning that the people of Wellington ap-
poared to be taking the. strike in good part, and generally enjoying the new experience of walking to and from their employment. It was the worker in the distant""suburbs who was suffering most. Ho had noticod in the vicinity of the railway stations and principal tram junctions that, though plenty of vehicles plied for hire, comparatively few wore engaged. Soma of the taxi-cab and motor car proprietors charge exorbitant fares. A Mastertou lady, who is an invalid, was charged (is (id by a taxi-cab proprietor for convoying her from Oriental Bay to tho Lambton station.
