FRUIT GROWING.
COMPANY FORMED BY NATIVES
A meeting of Maoris was hold at Cartorton last evening for the purposo of discussing a proposal for tho formation of a company to enter upon fruit growing ou a large scale. it was decided to form.ii company, and to issno 40,000 shares of £1 each. Land will probably bo purchased in the vicinity of Palmerston North for tho purposo of planting trees. It is expected that practically the whole of the shares will bo taken by tho natives. A further meeting will be hold at Carterton next week to make final arrangements for 'the flotation of tho Company.
