THE SMITH-CLABBY FIGHT.

SYDNEY, Sunday

Tlie light between Dave Smith, of New Zealand, and Jimmy Clabby, of America, was drawn, after twenty warm rounds.

An important professional contest lias been arranged by the. Tinui centre of the Wairarapa Boxing Association to take place at the Towu Hall, Masterton, ou Wednesday, tho 20th inst., when "Denny" Murphy, who recently defeated Tim Tracy at Blenheim, will box Archie Leckie, of Wellington, for the welter-Aveight championship of New Zealand and a purse of £50. Both men arc confident ot annexing premier honours, and the match should be a particularly interesting one. Leckie's numerous victories are too well-known to need detailing, but he will havo to bo in top form to defeat Murphy, who has come to the front so quickly of late. As "curtain-raisers" to the principal event, the promising young bantam, O. Ulsen, of Masterton, has been matched with A. Joplin, the Wellington champion, and O. Cadwallador, the clever Carterton light-weight, will contest five rounds with J. Smith, of Petoue, who won the lightweight title of the West Coast last season. Negotiations for a match for G. Barr, who has so distinguished himself ot late, aro in hand, and will, no doubt, be brought to a successful issue.
