At Portland, Maine, Frank Sandford, leader of the religions society known as "The Holy Ghost and Us," was convicted of causing the death of six persons aboard the yacht Coronet. It was alleged that Sandford allowed the yacht to proceed on a voyage without being supplied with tho necessaries of life. Sandford refused legal defence, declaring that God was the only defence he needed.
