I have to acknowledge receipt of a complimentary ticket for the Woodland Hunt Steeplechase meeting which takes place on the Pahiatua racecourse to-morrow.
A cable message from Sydney states that the racehorse Formeden, by Mutifonn—Otterdeu, has been sold to Mr Shiel, of Camden, for stud purposes. The price paid is not stated. Electrakoff will not be a starter iv the Winter Cup.
All doubts as to Hoanga being a starter at the Grand National meeting are apparently settled, seeing that he has been sent on to Riccarton. Others to go south from Wellington since my last notes are Kildonan. Royal Guard, Mahiro, Iney, Wirral, Sublime, Gold Thread, Gold Circle, Negative, Effort, and J. H. Prosser's team (Lovell, Robstoue Pippin, Dearest, Turua, Kokep, Salopin, and Hawick).
T. Pine has been engaged to ride Paritutu in his engagements at the C.J.C. meeting.
Mr A. F. Douglas* mare Ikon litis a foal at foot by Collarit, at Te Mahanga.
Gaelic will be a certain starter at the C.J.C. Grand National Meeting. The Bonnie Scotland gelding gave a good display of jumping in the Corunna Hurdles on the concluding day of the Wellington meeting, and the gallop should do him a power of good. He was sent south for Trentltam in charge of "Wally" Thompson. C Price will ride him iv his R iccafton engagements.
At a meeting of the committee of the Marton Jockey Club it was decided that on account of the resolution carried at the New Zealand Racing Conference making it compulsory to have tt race of one mile and a quarter at each meeting, it was decided to make the Marton Handicap (open) one mile and a quarter; Tntaenui Hack Welter, one mile, and Crofton Handicap one mile and a distance..
Mr A. Donald, of Featherston, is the owner of a rising two-year.oid filly by Elevation from Switchback, who shows much promise.
